Is this Britain’s Unluckiest Bride?

It was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. But according to the Mail Online, Yvonne Wilsons, wedding day is something she’d rather forget. The 37-year-old from Yorkshire has been dubbed Britain’s unluckiest bride after she was rushed to hospital twice on her wedding day, was forced to abandon her dream honey moon and had her wedding and engagement rings stolen.

Mrs Wilson, a beauty therapist, is reported to have started to feel ill during the ceremony as she married groom Dennis, at a luxury hotel. After the wedding party moved to a local park for official photographs to be taken Mrs Wilson, 37, was struck down by agonising pains. She cut short the photo shoot and returned to the hotel in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, hoping to shake off the pain. But as the bride and groom were preparing to welcome guests to an evening reception at the town’s Holiday Inn she was struck down again.

Leaving her husband, 51, to meet the arriving guests, Mrs Wilson was rushed to nearby Rotherham District Hospital by bridesmaid Sue Vickers. After being examined by doctors in the hospital Accident and Emergency department, Mrs Wilson was given painkillers and released.

She returned to her wedding reception but was hit by more pain as the party was ending at 1am and had to return to the hospital. The following day she had further examinations and after a scan two weeks later doctors discovered she had a fibroid – a benign tumour on her womb that would require surgery to remove. But when doctors revealed there was a six month waiting list for the operation, Mr and Mrs Wilson decided to cancel their £3,000 Caribbean holiday in Barbados and instead use the cash for a private operation.

Then in a final cruel twist, Mrs Wilson’s wedding and engagement rings were stolen from a house where she was working as a mobile beautician. She had removed the rings to carry out the treatment but forgot them when she left.  The property was burgled the following night and the jewellery was stolen. Let’s hope things can only get better for the couple from now on.

S Club 7 and Strictly Come Dancing star Rachel Stevens tied the knot with Alex Bourne in a Jewish ceremony on the 2nd August 2009. They married in the London’s fancy Claridges hotel with over 180 guests and Rachel really did make a beautiful bride, looking effortlessly beautiful in her princess-style ball gown with a fitted silk bodice and full tulle skirt designed for her by Mira Zwillinger. Rachel’s dress featured crystal beading and a pretty feathered corsage.

With such a beautiful elegant dress Rachel did the right thing when it came to choosing her wedding jewellery, she kept it simple yet elegant with her dangling diamond earrings and a matching bracelet. For real life brides who may not have a celebrity budget, Girls Love Pearls have the perfect ‘Chanel’ inspired diamante bracelet that is virtually identical to the one worn by Rachel but this version from Girls Love Pearls is a bargain at 24.95GBP.

Style Tip: For brides that want to really push the boat out with some bling, why not buy 2 or 3 of these sparkly bracelets and wear them stacked!

Celebrity Wedding Style…. Sophie Winkleman

Congratulations to Freddy Windsor and Sophie Winkleman who recently got married at Hampton Court Palace in a lavish ceremony. There were 400 guests present including Lady Helen Taylor, rock star Bryan Adams and Princess Eugenie to name a few.

As Sophie walked down the aisle to become the newest member of the Royal Family she looked picture perfect in a full-skirted ivory gown made of 8-ft of silk duchesse satin, hand-embellished with sequins, beads and crystal which had been created for her by one of her month-in-law’s favourite designers, Anna Bystrove from Roza Couture. The dress featured a delicate sweetheart neckline and a three-meter train.

The bride left her hair loose and flowing as a simple diamond tiara and full-length veil worked beautifully with the dress. Sophie opted for a delicate pair of pearl/diamond drop earrings which balanced the entire look and was the perfect finishing touch. Girls Love Pearls have picked up on the earrings worn by Sophie as they have a few pairs of earrings that are very similar to those worn by the bride.  Check out their wedding jewellery here.

Heidi’s Hollywood Fairytale Wedding

  • October 15, 2009 at 3:30 pm

We just love Heidi Pratt’s wedding dress by Monique Lhuillier and agree with her comment on Twitter that she felt amazing like a ‘swan princess’.   It was not just the dress that was to die for but also the diamond jewellery she was dripping in, which was reported to be worth just under 1 million dollars!

Heidi’s bridesmaids look gorgeous as well, in silk yellow dresses with a single shoulder strap, very on-trend!  Do we think though the bridesmaids could have done with a little bling to add the perfect finishing touch to their look?  At Girls Love Pearls, we think that this style of dress would not have suited a necklace, and earrings would have got lost in the case of Stephanie Pratt as she had worn her hair down.

In our opinion a sparkly cuff would have just added an understated sparkle to their outfits, and would have also made a lovely keep-sake item for the bridesmaids from Heidi as a thank you gift.  In addition, because Heidi was well jewelled up and her bridesmaids are not wearing any bling it would have balanced out the overall look.   We have definitely seen a trend towards bracelets for bridesmaids this season – both pearl and sparkly as they do not interfere with the style of the dress, but add that finishing touch which is wearable time and again.

Girls Love Pearls offer the perfect sparkly cuff bracelet for brides/bridesmaids, and they come in a selection of different coloured crystals to match this season’s colour trends.  With this cuff costing only £24.95 GBP, you can look like a Hollywood A-Lister without breaking the bank!   Check out the amazing selection of bridal jewellery on-line at www.girls-love-pearls.co.uk
